Any of you that have seen any of my babies can testify that my babies are bald. Well, even if they are born with some hair/fuzz, they will surely lose it within a few weeks and then be bald for several months. I actually joked with the nurses before Tosh was born telling them, "I will be more surprised if he is born with lots of hair then if he turns out to be a girl!"
For years I've listened to the many opinions regarding bows (and "head squeezers" as some prefer), and I never had to worry about it. I was a "boy" mom. Well I finally have a little girl, and truth be told, I don't have an opinion on "the bow." I didn't want anything in Liv's hair when she was a newborn because I didn't need anything else attracting Tosh to the baby's head (he is known for stealing barrettes and bows from little girls). I have some darling clips and barrettes for Liv, but alas, my baby is still bald and not able to wear these yet.
A new friend of mine in AZ just taught me how to make thick headbands out of a pair of tights. These kinds of things are foreign to me. It sorts of goes back to my "fear of trends" problem; although I'm sure that Liv can pull off the latest fashions for baby. She's a doll after all.
To get to my point, I pulled out the sewing machine to give it a try and now I have something to attach Liv's cute bows and accessories to until her hair grows in. Whenever that may be. And I have to be honest: with bow in hair, I get way more comments on what a cute baby I have, and I can't argue with that.

Oh My Gosh is she cute or What? Even Grandpa likes the bows!!!
I believe the term I used was "head tourniquet", but I think she's cute anyway. ; )
I'm the one who always said "head squeezer," LQ. But this wide headband seems qualitatively different than those stupid ready-made skinny headbands of scratchy ruffled lace. This one is actually cute! Cleaner lines, not so annoyingly polyester-y. And dare I point out that it has the added advantage of pinning down her adorable elfy ears? ;) Maybe if she wears it all the time . . . .
Oh Tamsen, she looks especially cute in the bows! I say "Wear them!!"
I agree that it is much cuter than most-- it must be if I think she looks cute in it. And I do. ; )
Oh yes, wear the bow little girl!! She looks adorable. I've always been sorry I didn't put more bows in Ella's hair when she was a baby (more because her dad didn't want me to).
I love the fun accessories.... especially the flower ones! I don't put out nearly as much time and money into making cute ones, though, and I wish I did because they are so fun! I can't believe that is your Liv! Tamsen, she is so incredibly gorgeous and has grown out of her newborn stage way too fast. So so cute!
I don't really have an opinion about bows either, but Lily has taken such a liking to headbands that I'm scurrying to find more. Can you explain the tights/headband thing? I'd love to try it!
And I think Liv is beautiful with or without the bow. Even though she looks like your other kids, she's just such a girl!
She is so adorable. I love the headband and they don't seem as tight as the thin lace ones (and cuter too). I wish they would have been around when Ava was a baby because she was also bald. I was stuck with sticking tiny bows to her head with karo syrup. I say put the bows on and enjoy having a girl. I love the pictures, you are such a great photographer.
Some days ya just want a big sassy bow, and other days just a little baby head. I go both ways on this one.
