I called our good friend Tom who is an EMT/firefighter and he came right over. Poor Tom has gotten calls from me before, like once around midnight when Rob passed out in our bathroom, and on another occasion he removed Rob's stitches (due to a soccer injury) on our kitchen table. Tom took a look at Tosh and said that it needed stitches and he also recommended that Rob and I should either go to the hospital together or that just Rob should take him in. Since I had the choice experience of going by myself when we had to have Hewitt's forehead glued shut, I decided that at 8:30 on a Friday night I would stay and put our older kids down and let Rob take him in.
Judging by Rob's description of the experience, it's probably good that I wasn't there. Poor Tosh had to have six stitches and he was such a little fighter on the table. Rob said that by the end he sort of gave up fighting and completely stopped crying altogether. Tosh was exhausted and when they got home he fell asleep in my arms as I carried him up to bed. He was a little fussy this morning, and I don't blame him. I'd love to think that this is our last injury, but with three boys I fear that it won't be. My friend Erin once told me something like, "The main job of a mother of boys is just keeping them alive!" This is certainly on the top of my to-do list every day.

Poor kid! I'm glad you got to stay home this time. it's the look in their eyes while it's all happening that kills you. Taking turns is better, but I don't know if Rophone could keep from passing out.
Have you broken any mirrors or walked under any ladders lately?
I'm glad he is ok. How are your nerves? If you ever need me to come over while you guys are on one of your runs to the ER, I am more than willing.
Oooooh. Poor guy. I hope he feels better. (That picture of him is precious btw.)
Oh dear! I saw the Haynie's car there yesterday I'm so sorry it was for an accident. You have really had a difficult past few days! Call me anytime and I'll be glad to run over.
hang in there! and it's not just boys that are prone to head injuries: my niece had 4 different sets of stitches on her head by the time she was 4 years old. hey, the first time is the most traumatic- it gets easier (and less stressful) from here!
I wouldn't think it was possible, but he is even cuter with the big bandaide!
Tosh is (I hope it is ok to say this eventhough he is a boy) BEAUTIFUL! Oh my goodness! I love that picture even though it is SO sad that he got hurt! I hope you have a better week and that no more crazy stuff happens!! Isn't it nice to live in a place where you have nice neighbors and friends to help you out when you need it! I just love this area!
Tamsen, I hope little Tosh is okay. My cousin just had her third boy...I'll have to share the quote with her from your friend.
Miss you,
Sherry
Sweet, sweet Toshie! I hope he sits still enough for you to give him lots of loves.
Isn't it Alisa who split open her chin massively? She and John were the ones who always seemed to need stitches, the rest of us not so much.
With 2 boys, we are very familiar with the ER! I love the quote from your friend. And the pic of poor Tosh is just adorable.
U R on a roll! I can feel your pain. Last time one of my kids got stitches was horible. Jelly cut her knee open when Jim was watching her. He thought he could fix it himself , so he super glued it. When I got home I just saw the bandaide. The next day it was burst open and had to be all recut and scrubed then stitched. So gross
ouch. what is it with boys. I just had a fun fall with tanner last night. three big red bruises on his face.
Well...if you ask me, you are still succeeding in "keeping them alive" and so you must be doing a great job! Hee hee! It was so good to see you yesterday even though you spent the whole time trying to keep cute Tosh out of the water. Take care, cutie!
Poor little sweetie. He is so cute.
