Losing it

I woke up this morning and put on my glasses to find that everything was completely blurry! I guess I went through my entire bedtime routine last night (wash face, floss teeth, etc.) forgetting to take out my contacts. Aargh--I hate that!

I was changing sheets earlier in the week and spent several minutes looking for the fitted sheet I had just had in my hand. After searching the entire house several times and getting kind of frustrated I realized that I had already put it on my bed! This kind of thing happens all the time lately.

I'm also forgetting about random appointments, events and other things (even ones that are on my calendar) and am having trouble finding household items that are staring right at me.

I'm obviously on "auto-pilot" all too often...or losing it altogether.

you're not alone! i do similar things all day long! i like to blame it on the fact that i have 2 little boys who are CONSTANTLY distracting me from what i'm doing AND they take items and hide them from me. (like Luke taking a sock while i was folding laundry and throwing it in the toilet!) gotta love this stage. and you have 1 more than me and one on the way so you have way more excuses to be "losing it" ha!

I call it pregnancy brain, and I definitely remember it happening to me. I prescribe more salmon. It's hard to get this time of year, though, so maybe just more eggs. Clafouti is a good dessert that's egg-rich. Or you could just make dutch baby pancakes (and serve them with buttermilk syrup, of course). You need those essential fatty acids.

I experienced it, too. I call it the pregnancy brain suck. Anyway, it hasn't gone away, so maybe I should start calling it the permanent brain suck.

Oh my goodness....that happened to me to when I was pregnant. That's when I stopped doing the Sister to Sister because I felt like I was losing it!!

I forgot to tell you.... once, when I was making a bed I misplaced the flat sheet. I KNEW I had just had it, but couldn't find it anywhere. I finally finished making the bed with a mismatched top sheet.

I felt pretty stupid when I next changed the sheets and found the original flat sheet, still nicely folded, UNDER the fitted sheet on the bed. I had set the sheet down and then made the bed right over the top! See? You don't have to worry. We're all losing our minds, too! It's always nice to do things with friends. ; )

It's true, what they've said about pregnant women, they become like me-menopausal and forgetful!!! Lucky for you, you'll get your brain back soon, there's no hope for me!

It least you have pregnancy as an excuse....I don't know what to call mine! Hee hee! I so love the sheet thing.

Good gravy (never used that phrase before, but I thought I'd give it a try)! I cannot even count how many times that has happened to me. And I don't have the pregnancy excuse either. I couldn't even use that excuse when I WAS pregnant, because everyone knew I did it when I wasn't. It's gotten worse as I've gotten older too. In 10 years I probably won't even know my own name, and I'll start... what was I talking about?

I agree with the others, pregnancy kills the brain cells. Also, just being a busy Mom doesn't help the whole situation. Hang in there and realize that you are not alone. I can't tell you how many times I run upstairs to get something and then stand there looking around. Then I head back downstairs and then remember what I went up there to do. **sigh**

I had the same thing happen during the last couple pregnancies. It gets worse each time. I feel that I have mostly bounced back after only 6 months, though. Those hormones are amazing things!

Maybe it's the fact that I have 6 things-- besides myself-- automatically on my mind at all times. Talk about multi-tasking!!!
